From the hills of the Maas valley, typical Dutch river landscapes with idyllic villages and fortified towns such as Woudrichem and Heusden, to the bustling metropoles of Liège (B) and Rotterdam with its impressive harbour and modern architecture - Cycling along the Maas takes you on a varied journey along the River Maas. Thanks to the river, trade thrived in the historic towns of Dordrecht, Roermond and Maastricht.

Nature lovers can enjoy the unique wildlife in National Park De Biesbosch, one of the last freshwater tidal areas in Europe.

Cycling along the Maas is not signposted or marked on cycle maps. The guide book Fietsen langs de Maas gives you maps and a description of the route in both directions. If your Dutch isn’t good enough to follow the description, we recommend using the guide book in combination with a detailed cycle map or the downloadable GPS tracks.
