This routes takes you through the western part of the Utrechtse Heuvelrug, an area with mixed forests, monumental beech lanes and villages associated with the Dutch royal family. Highlights of the route are Groeneveld Castle, Soestdijk Palace and the woodland village of Lage Vuursche.

From the royal waiting rooms at Baarn train station, you cycle to Groeneveld Castle. Winding cycle paths through mixed forests, take you to the village of Lage Vuursche. Its beautiful woodland setting, historic buildings and numerous pancake restaurants attract many Dutch cyclists and walkers. Via the former royal palace at Soestdijk and the Needle of Waterloo, you return to Baarn train station. There's a lot to see and do along this relatively short route. This makes it an ideal route to do with children.
