This route takes you through the northern part of the Walcheren peninsula, popular for its beaches and beautiful coastline. Natural sand dunes alternate with man-made sea dykes, protecting the low-lying island from the sea. Highlight of the route is the rich merchant town of Middelburg.

You cycle to the old fortified town of Veere. From here the route takes you along the now dammed off Veerse Meer to the North Sea. Via Breezand and Oostkapelle you reach the upper-class seaside resort of Domburg. Along the coast there are sandy beaches where you can stop for a swim. You return to Middelburg through the open polders.

This route can be combined with the Vlissingen Cycle Route, giving you a 57 km-trip around the whole of Walcheren. You can download this combined route as a GPX file.
