Overview of day trips in the Utrecht region
Utrecht Forts Cycle Route
This route takes you around the Utrecht area to explore the historic forts of the New Dutch Waterline - a 85 km-long military line of defence that relied on forts, bunkers, fortress towns and inundated land to protect Amsterdam and the centre of Holland.
Linge Cycle Route
This picturesque route takes you through the Betuwe region, famous for its fruit production. Highlight of the year is when the fruit trees are in bloom from the second half of April to the beginning of May.
Lage Vuursche Royal Cycle Route
This routes takes you through the woodlands of the Utrechtse Heuvelrug, an area associated with the Dutch royal family. Highlights of the route are Groeneveld Castle, Soestdijk Palace and the woodland village of Lage Vuursche.
Gouda Cycle Route
This route takes you through the Green Heart of Holland, a water-rich, rural region dotted with picturesque historic towns. Highlights of the route are the cheese market and canals in Gouda and the witches' scales at Oudewater.
